The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is aware of media reports alleging visa racketeering involving some officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), particularly subtle insinuations suggesting that the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, is under investigation.

The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that it has no case against the Immigration CG.

There are ongoing cases of alleged visa fraud involving some immigration officers currently before the Federal High Court. Further investigations are also ongoing, with the possibility that more NIS officers may be arraigned for alleged fraudulent practices in the near future.

However, the Immigration CG is in no way connected to these investigations.

The media is advised to always seek clarification on the activities of the EFCC to avoid misrepresenting facts.
