EFCC Marks Abuja Properties Linked to Malami for Forfeiture

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have moved to enforce forfeiture proceedings on properties in Abuja linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The action took place on Monday morning.

EFCC operatives, accompanied by armed security personnel, arrived at the locations to mark the properties—an exercise that reportedly drew resistance from Malami and other individuals present at the scene.

In a video seen by Channels Television, the former minister is seen confronting an official believed to be part of the EFCC team, demanding to see a valid court order authorising the move to mark and possibly take over the property.

The official maintained that the commission was acting within its powers, insisting that the property was already under a forfeiture order.

Malami, however, disputed the claim, arguing that any such order had lapsed, and again challenged the official to produce documentation backing the action.

During the operation, one of the affected properties was visibly marked with the inscription: “Restrained order—EFCC, keep off.”
